The Sneak: Red wine that reimagines tradition and embraces a rebellious spirit

Inspired by Henry Cline’s rebellious spirit, The Sneak is a wine that pays tribute to the art of revelry, the courage to challenge the status quo, and the pursuit of a life less ordinary. As the youngest in the large Cline family, Henry has a mischievous spirit and a tendency for challenging norms, always done with a sense of daring and fun. When Henry officially rejoined the family wine business as vineyard manager in 2022, he found himself at a crossroads. With the CEO’s intention to rip out the Rhone vineyards planted by Henry’s father and replace them with more conventional (ahem…boring) varietals, Henry took a stance. He decided to farm and harvest the challenged vineyards of Grenache and Syrah off the clock, and worked with Cline winemaker Tom Gendall to craft a red blend from the vines for one final vintage. After many iterations, and multiple blending (and drinking) sessions with Tom and friends – he invited the CEO to taste their unconventional blend of Merlot, Grenache, & Syrah. The youngest Cline’s passion and inherent quality of the blend got Henry the green-light to bottle his first vintage and agreement to spare his selected blocks from being replanted.

Sometimes, it pays to be sneaky.

The fruit used in The Sneak blend come from the Cline Estate ranch at the bottom of Sonoma Valley on the western side of Los Carneros on an East facing slope. Early morning sunshine and cloudy afternoons mean long hang-time resulting in a rich, full-bodied, and most importantly, balanced, wine.
